Best .45 Gun - If we look at the official weapons of European countries, the P12 of the Bundeswehr is an anomaly. Chambered mostly in American caliber .45 ACP, the P12 entered service in the early 1900s, and most .45 caliber rifles were discontinued from European service. It remains in service today and is housed in a select Bundeswehr armory. But why buy a P12?
The answer lies in the pistol considered the P12's ancestor, the H&K Mk23 SOCOM. Built to meet the United States Special Operations Command's (USSOCOM) .45-caliber "assault pistol" requirements, it was built from scratch to be ridiculously reliable and suppressive, and was a key part of the suppressor development program.

However, the Mk23 was "a lot of guns" at just over nine inches. Most SOCOM units did not adopt it, choosing to use other, smaller weapons. However, the BAAINBw, the Bundeswehr's defense procurement service, purchased a limited number of Mk23s in 1998 and tested them to assess their effectiveness.

Meanwhile, H&K used many of the technologies developed for the Mk23 to create the H&K USP, a compact pistol originally chambered in the new .40 S&W cartridge. However, shortly after its release, it was adapted to the USP 9x19mm and .45 ACP calibers. Because the Bundeswehr needed a new service pistol in 9x19 to replace the old Walther P1 stock, a version of the USP's 9mm manual safety was quickly adopted as the P8.
But interest in suppressors remains. The USP .45 Tactical has been found suitable for Bundeswehr service. After minor modifications, it became the P12 of the Bundeswehr. Presumably because special operators needed a pistol to hold the draw, the manual safety was removed and replaced with a lever. The overshoot on the rifle's trigger has also been removed, probably due to operator preference.
The pistol was issued to various special reconstruction and direct action units in the Bundeswehr. The elite KSK, Fernspäher and other reconstruction troops are known to have used pistols. However, not all rebuild units can use it, and lower keys continue to use the standard P8.
More specialized units will carry the P12 because it is primarily used as a suppressor rifle and is therefore chambered in .45 caliber. Since .45 ACP is the second round in most standard loads, it can be used in the P12 without purchasing special ammunition that reduces terminal ballistics.

Unlike the MP5SD, another popular weapon in these parts, it actively exhausts the gas from the 9mm rounds, making them quieter, but limiting the terminal effect due to the significant velocity of the 9mm round. However, the retarding effect of the MP5SD suppressor is rarely found in suppressors, most of which maintain or increase the rate of rotation that passes through them.
What about the future? Although a compact version of the MP7 saw service in the Bundeswehr, the smaller 4.6mm cartridge retained its lethality. According to a report in ESUT, while the number of MP7s is on the rise, USSOCOM is not trying to field special submachine gun cartridges like the SURG. So the P12 will last for many years.

GI Standard FS or Full Size is the largest and cheapest.
Armed And Responsible: Considering The 45 Acp
It has a traditional 1911 feel and is balanced with a 5 inch barrel. It has an overall length of 8.84 inches and a height of 5.51 inches, making it the largest of the bunch. That's 2.47 pounds between the steel frame and the slide.
The frame and sliders are smooth, durable and have anti-reflection stops, and the handle is smooth and made of wood.
The rifle is front mounted and has a dovetail cut rear sight, low profile and adjustable trigger pull from four to six pounds.
Despite its size, the GI Standard FS has an 8+1 round capacity, which is certainly not impressive, but not as impressive as the other guns that make this list.
