The 9mm+P+ is a fine police caliber, and the 9mm+P is fine, especially the FBI's new Hornady Flex Lock, but the .40 S&W hits harder. This is physics. My pistol was marked Atlanta PD. It is in very good condition, came in a box with an extra magazine and original inserts on the handle. The trigger is stable at 5.5 pounds. The finish has some wear and the barrel cap and muzzle have normal wear from shooting. I have a 9mm conversion barrel. The .40 breech surface is slightly larger and the extractor is different, so I was wondering how these conversion barrels could work. I first tried the Glock with .40 rounds. These include the 155gn Hornady XTP and the 180gn XTP.
Considering the most powerful cartridges, the .40 caliber pistol is suitable not only for self-defense and official use, but also for the protection of animals. When it comes to wild dogs and big cats, I think the more powerful .40 ammo is a good choice.
Then I tried the conversion bucket. I first used a mixed bag of ammo left over from other tests, including hollow point and FMJ ammo. I used .40 caliber magazines. Having fired several hundred shots, the gun was reliable enough for training, but not for official use. The point of aim and impact were acceptable for practice, and the recoil was just under 0.40. The accuracy was at least equal to the Glock 17 in 9mm.
The magazines fed the first 12 or 13 rounds, but the last two or three tended to cycle short. The last three rounds have very little magazine spring force, and we use a 9mm pistol with a recoil spring set to .40. When switching to 9mm Glock 17 magazines, the gun became better. Reliability has increased to around 95-98%, with frequent cycle failures on the last few cartridges.

This is a great transformation for practical use. 9mm is economical, and with an affordable and accurate load like the FMJ Fiocchi 124-grain, the conversion barrel offers affordable practice. However, it is not reliable for operation, while the tested Glock .40 showed 100% efficiency in all tested loads. Perhaps a 9mm recoil assembly with 9mm magazines will speed things up.
Next, I wanted to try a .22 caliber conversion block. The Tactical Solutions .22 conversion block is well made with good material and the promise is kept. There is no additional magazine included in the kit, and I admit that the conversion is not intended for tactical use. But I ordered an extra magazine because I don't like gear without an extra magazine.
The conversion was fitted to a Glock frame and magazines loaded with Fiocchi .22 Long Rifle High Velocity ammunition. The gun and the conversion went out of fire. After 500 shots with mixed ammunition - all high velocity charges - the conversion never failed to feed, chamber, fire or eject. I love it. Accuracy is good, but the practical accuracy of the device is slightly below par for a 9mm Glock 17 pistol. Two inches at 15 yards or a little more is average.
I almost forgot I have a Bar Sto Precision barrel in .357 SIG. So, it's actually a four-caliber Glock. In any case, I stick to three calibers for practical use: .40 for defense, .22 for drills and practice, and 9mm for center shooting. However, the .357 SIG is interesting.

I loaded the .40 magazines with Fiocchi .357 SIG FMJ rounds. The results were excellent. The function was 100%, and the absolute accuracy of the test was thanks to the Bar Sto barrel. I fired several groups with a two-inch Glock at 25 yards, but that day I fired only one of the Bar Sto barrel and Fiocchi rounds.
The .22 caliber conversions are the earliest types of conversions, and it's interesting to have one firearm that fires more than one round. Other pistols are useful and make life interesting. With that in mind, my 3-gauge Glock should have a lot of uses.
