Cpx-2 9mm Review - After hearing some reviews, my interest was piqued. I had a customer who was reviewing the SCCY and was wondering if I could get one. I can do it I actually got two CPX2 and CPX1. The client prefers CPX1 to be secure, so I kept the unsecured version. Cleaning and degreasing is typical of most modern polymer guns. All it takes is a little brushing on the retaining pin (not with a nail file) to get it out. Not closed, it is limited in the frame. After cleaning the factory lubricant. Coated with Froglube and off to shoot.
I started shooting with a few dry shots to familiarize myself with the double action trigger. This trigger weighs about 9 pounds from the factory as advertised. The trigger felt in that ballpark, but was smooth throughout the pull. With a little practice you can easily pull to a cut point and follow the trigger well. This gun has a holstered but visible hammer and does not stick to clothing if it is in a pocket.

Had fun while shooting. I was surprised at how little recoil the 9mm had. A little less than a comparable Glock 26, I think. I feed the nine: football; Hollow and lead are fed into semi-conductors and nose cones. Bullet size ranges from 115 grams to 147 grams. I eat whatever I can afford. I'll admit sometimes 3 out of 150 don't go into the battery at all. This seems normal until the customer says it, but it doesn't.

Accuracy? I shot B-27 targets mostly at 30 feet and then was amazed at how easy it was to shoot tight groups with such an inexpensive gun. I'm no pro, but this gun has no problem shooting defensively when needed. Even shooting in motion with the DAO gun wasn't as bad as expected.
The feel of the gun is similar to the G26 above. It is slightly smaller and lighter at an ounce or two. It took a few minutes to get the hang of it, but after shooting it hundreds of times, I had no problems.
Overall, I love this gun. As an entry-level gun priced under $300, it wouldn't be a problem for me to save my life. With 10 rounds of good 9mm hollow point you can carry around with confidence and concealability.

I need it now! Availability: You can purchase this pistol at several retailers including Bud's Gun Shop and Impact Gun. When SCCY introduced the CPX 9mm pistol a few years ago, it was a reliable, well-designed and reasonably priced pistol. Early versions with a frame-mounted safety sometimes suffered from the safety moving into position during firing. SCCY has solved the problem; Shooting thumbs contacting the safety can cause this, but I recommend the safety version. A 10-pound double-action pistol can be carried without a manual safety.
I wanted to test the new model SCCY CPX 9mm to see if there was any improvement in the performance and finish of the pistol. The stainless slide and polar white frame version that was tested was more attractive than the black pistols that we previously tested. Recalling a reliable gun from previous testing, the new pistol follows closely along these lines. Perhaps the most attractive feature of this gun is its price. At $227.63 (currently) the SCCY CPX-2 is about half the price of a Smith & Wesson Shield or Glock 43. Although they are different guns. This is an important form of reference.

The pistol is not designed to handle +P ammunition. In a gun of this size, the +P would be difficult to control. Slide velocity may exceed the magazine's ability to feed properly. If +P loads are used extensively, there is excess in small portions of operation.
I chose the standard practice load, the Fiocchi 115-grain FMJ loading, which has consistently produced good results. I also shot a small amount of Fiocchi 124-grain FMJ. An example of a quality defense load includes Fiocchi 124-grain Extrema and Fiocchi 147-grain JHP. The pistol is comfortable to fire without any extras. A long double-action trigger provides excellent control.
Pressing the rear button allows the pistol to be reset when it is cocked; Then reset the pistol as soon as the sights re-reveal the target. The reset is not as quick as some pistols, but the action is consistent and the reset is smooth. 5 pistol 7, at 10 yards, I shot wide. At 7 yards, the most likely defensive distance, I was able to fit a full 10-round magazine into a hand-sized space. It is the purity that saves lives. Difficult to manage with any load, but the 147 grain JHP seems to be the most fun. I will likely carry a 124 grain JHP as a defense load. The final outcome of a defensive encounter depends on the defender's gun handling and tenacity. SCCY is perfect for most defensive encounters.
Long-range gun shooting is irrelevant for accuracy, but useful for determining the ability of the shooter and the pistol. In particular, we don't want to be helpless in the face of long-term danger. Taking his time, he attempted to fire the SCCY CPX-2 at 15 yards from a narrow screen.

A pistol is for personal defense and is meant for close range. It is not a pistol for dusting bugs and germs. In home defense, close range and weapon use are just as important as marksmanship.
